Financial clarity for the people who need it most
Crane Counsel was founded to address a specific gap — the financial preparation that career-changing adults in their 40s and 50s rarely find addressed directly, and honestly.
Back to HomeBuilt around a specific need
Crane Counsel started from a straightforward observation: professionals in their 40s and 50s who are navigating career change face a distinct set of financial questions — and those questions are rarely addressed by content designed for younger career-starters or for people approaching formal retirement.
The people who come to us are typically experienced, financially literate in a general sense, and in the middle of something real. They are not looking for motivational content or generic budgeting advice. They want to understand the financial shape of their specific situation — and they want that information delivered without pressure or sales intent.
Our courses are designed with that in mind. Each programme is self-contained, grounded in the Hong Kong context, and focused entirely on financial preparation — not career counselling, life coaching, or product sales.
To give working professionals in Hong Kong a clear, honest financial picture of their career transition — before, during, and in the early stages of what comes next.

How we hold ourselves accountable
No product sales, ever
Crane Counsel does not sell financial products, accept referral fees, or have commercial relationships with insurers, fund managers, or lenders. Course fees are our only revenue.
Personal data handled minimally
We collect only what is needed for enrolment and course administration. We do not collect or store personal financial data from participants. Our data practices comply with Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
Content reviewed regularly
Course materials are reviewed before each new cohort to reflect any changes in Hong Kong tax legislation, MPF regulations, or relevant financial conditions that affect participants' planning.
Educational, not advisory
We are clear about what we are: an educational provider, not a licensed financial advisor. We encourage participants to consult licensed professionals for advice specific to their circumstances.
Participant feedback informs revision
Every cohort completes a structured review at the close of each programme. Responses are read carefully and inform changes to the following cohort's materials and delivery.
Straightforward refund terms
Cancellation and refund terms are stated clearly at enrolment and applied without dispute. We do not believe in making it difficult for someone to change their mind.
Financial preparation as a discipline in itself
Most working adults in Hong Kong accumulate a reasonable working knowledge of personal finance over the course of their careers — they understand how MPF contributions function, have a broad sense of their spending, and may have some savings or investments in place. What is less common is a structured understanding of how those elements interact during a period of transition.
Career change introduces complexity that steady employment does not. Income may change in amount, timing, and type. Insurance coverage may shift or lapse. Retirement contributions may need active management. Tax treatment may differ depending on the income sources involved. These are not abstract concerns — they are practical questions with answers that depend on individual circumstances.
Crane Counsel courses are built to help participants think through these questions with structure — using frameworks, worked examples, and reflection exercises rather than generic checklists. The focus is on equipping people to understand their own situation, ask better questions of licensed professionals, and approach financial decisions during change with more clarity than anxiety.
The name references both the bird — a symbol of longevity and careful movement in the region — and the professional sense of counsel: considered, honest guidance that helps rather than directs.
